The children now stand at a crossroads—letting go of their childhood, staring at emerging adolescence with the promise of adulthood. Veiled with their curiosity, cherishing their childhood, they now boldly step into expanding their horizons. They learn with curiosity and questioning, armed with dawning critical thinking.
Adolescents love logic and to see things in their own way. They reason and draw conclusions with autonomy. This is their way of slowly entering into the adult world—to experience life with openness.
While delving more into their subjects during middle school and high school, the children are supported by the pillars of Waldorf education: art, handwork, woodwork, clay work, music, sports and theatre. We aim for excellence through striving and persevering. Though intensive, it is balanced by the exhilaration of achieving, of completing a task.
The school follows the Waldorf curriculum till 8th grade. During the last term of 8th grade, we will bridge the concepts and help children choose their subjects for 9th grade based on our observations and rounds of open conversations. The heart of this process is in listening to each child’s interests, curiosities and strengths.
Grade 8 is a year of dawning intellect. In order to meet and nurture this growing consciousness, grade 8 delves into polarities;—everything is looked at from different perspectives. The shades of grey are explored, discussed and open conclusions are created. It’s a year of revolutions, where change is embraced yet studied for it brings both sides of development.
Every individual’s voice is heard and lifted through the pages of history, stories of English, algebra and geography. Further delving into biology, physics, chemistry is seen while art, handwork, woodwork, clay work, sports and theatre remain a vital part of their curriculum.
