In the first seven years of life, a child grows most deeply through imitation, rhythm, and sensory-rich experiences. At Indradhanu Waldorf School, our nursery and kindergarten provide a nurturing space where the young child’s natural wonder and joy in discovery are cherished and protected.
Daily life in our classrooms is woven with meaningful activities—cooking, gardening, handwork, painting, beeswax modeling, circle games and free play. These experiences strengthen the child’s senses, coordination and imagination while also cultivating social skills and empathy. Storytelling, songs, and seasonal celebrations connect the children with the rhythms of nature and the world around them, building a quiet reverence for life.
Rather than introducing academics too early, we focus on healthy physical, emotional, and social development. The child’s innate capacities unfold gently through play and imitation, laying a strong foundation for later learning. Our curriculum is guided by Rudolf Steiner’s understanding of child development: during the early years, the body, will, and imagination are nourished so that thinking and intellectual capacities may awaken naturally in the next phase of life.
